The Printing Press/The Internet
Compare
The printing press and the Internet are two of the best things that have ever been created in the history of this earth. This is because they both produce a way to quickly spread ideas. For example, the printing press helped spread ideas of the philosophers of the Enlightenment and the Internet spreads the ideas of everyone who can access it. It is almost like they are just forms of transportation for thoughts and ideas. This is the biggest similarity between the two technologies.
Contrast
As well as the similarities, these two things have their differences or things that are contrastable between them. First off, they both are from different time periods. The Internet was not founded until 1992, while the printing press was invented sometime between 1440 and 1450 (see a and b). This is significant when it comes to how fast they spread ideas, which is another difference between the two. The Internet can spread ideas A LOT faster than the printing press. For example, I can go onto the Internet right now and extend an idea I have on a social media site within seconds. On the other hand, the printing press may take weeks or months to spread to the same amount of people. These are the main distinctions between the two.
