The Enlightenment: Conflict in Europe?
The Enlightenment period in Europe may have been one of the most crucial points in our 'world history timeline'. It is because of this period that we know so much about our universe and how nature works. This came directly from the ideas and thoughts of the great minds of this time. Some of these mentalities spread amongst the population and wasn't beneficial to the people in charge. This created a conflict in Europe that would impact its future and ultimately the world.
During the Enlightenment, ideals of humanism and democracy extended through Europe. This created conflict with the Catholic Church because they believed that one's self is what creates sin and corruption in the soul. So if the people that they basically rule begin to believe something different, they are inevitably going to start to question all of the churches ideals. The church did not want this so the natural thing that they did was dispute with the new philosophers. This conflict reached outwards until it eventually affected the whole world (see a.)

a. All of this information came from Mr. Pittard's website under the Reading tab. Specifically the Enlightenment padlet/slide.
